The TeachPHL Recruitment Campaign Launches to Help Philadelphia Schools Fill Teacher Vacancies
The Philadelphia Citywide Talent Coalition is investing $200,000 to strengthen the city’s educator pipeline
Philadelphia, PA – [January 29, 2026] – Today, the Philadelphia Citywide Talent Coalition announced the launch of a $200K TeachPHL Recruitment Campaign to support public district and charter schools in filling 2,000 teacher vacancies for 2026-27 school year.
“The Citywide Talent Coalition is uniting schools, higher education institutions, nonprofit, civic, research, and philanthropy to address our collective short-term needs to fill vacancies, while creating conditions to strengthen the pipeline of the next generation of educators. The TeachPHL Recruitment Campaign embodies this collaboration approach of the Talent Coalition, helping schools across the city find the teachers it needs to serve their students.”
About the TeachPHL Recruitment Campaign
The TeachPHL Recruitment Campaign is the Talent Coalition’s primary recruitment strategy to expand awareness of teaching opportunities and certification pathways in Philadelphia. The campaign includes:
- Paid digital marketing ads running on TikTok, Meta (Instagram and Facebook), and Google promoting the teaching profession, open roles in public district and charter schools, and certification programs for individuals with bachelor’s degrees who are not yet certified;
- New resources to support non-certified teachers working under emergency permits as they navigate pathways to full certification; and,
- Collaborative supports to help schools expand applicant pools and amplify their teacher recruitment efforts.
New this year, local Philadelphia teachers are featured as the faces and voices of the TeachPHL campaign, highlighting real educators, real classrooms, and real pathways into the profession.
“Over the past year, we’ve seen growing interest in our educator preparation programs,” said Monika W. Shealey, Dean of the College of Education and Human Development at Temple University, which runs the Temple Teacher Residency Program in partnership with the school district and charter school partners. “With support from the collective actions of the Talent Coalition, we’re turning that interest into action—connecting future teachers with clear, accessible pathways into Philadelphia schools.”
School leaders also see the campaign as a critical tool for collaboration and problem-solving across sectors.
“The Philadelphia Citywide Talent Coalition creates a shared space where schools can learn from one another, explore new recruitment strategies, and elevate the profession together. TeachPHL solidifies city wide recruitment efforts and helps quality educators navigate a challenging system to reach their homebase.”
People with bachelor’s degrees and college students currently earning a bachelor’s degree are encouraged to visit TeachPHL.org to explore pathways to becoming a teacher in Philadelphia.
