Tools Designed For Families and Teachers

For Families

  • GreatPhillySchools

GreatPhillySchools’ (GPS) mission is to make school information accessible so Philadelphia families can find, compare and demand great schools for their students. In service of this mission, GPS provides free resources to Philadelphia families, which include the greatphillyschools.org website, K-12 school print guides, early childhood toolkits, school fairs, and other informational newsletters and articles.

  • Apply Philly Charter

Apply Philly Charter (APC) was launched in 2018 as an online application system for participating Philadelphia charter schools and prospective charter school applicants. Since then, APC has grown to serve 76 charter school campuses in the city and has become the predominant way in which families apply to charter schools in Philadelphia.

  • K-12 Philly School Fair

A free opportunity for families to learn about over 200 K-12 school options in Philadelphia - in-person or virtually!

For Talent Development

  • Philadelphia Citywide Talent Coalition

A group composed of representatives from 35 organizations from across a diverse range of sectors–education, nonprofit, civic, research, and philanthropy–to collectively work on implementing strategies from the citywide talent plan.

  • TeachPHL

TeachPHL — an initiative of the Philadelphia Citywide Talent Coalition — provides aspiring and current teachers with the information and resources they need to take on the mission of a lifetime and change lives. Whether someone is a lifelong Philadelphian or new to the city, everything they need to know about how to become an educator or advance career in education can be found on TeachPHL.

  • Teacher Retention Toolbox

The Philadelphia Citywide Talent Coalition developed a “Teacher Retention Toolbox” to support schools and school systems to better retain their newest teachers and current BIPOC teachers. This Toolbox includes four strategies: 1) Boost New Teacher Salaries & Financial Incentives; 2) Modernize the Profession; 3) Enhance Professional Supports; and, 4) Create Inclusive School Cultures. Schools and school systems should review the content of the report, assess their current strategies, and utilize the tools to enhance or adjust their ongoing efforts to retain newer teachers and BIPOC teachers.
