PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — July 30, 2026 — A new survey of Philly school principles shows they’re generally optimistic, but their satisfaction with resources varies.

The survey of 135 district and charter school principals by the nonprofit Elevate 215 showed that nearly two-thirds (64%) of principals believed schools were moving in the right direction.
Scott Gaiber, the nonprofit’s Deputy Chief of Talent Initiatives, said when it came to incentive to keep principals in their jobs, support for their school was the top priority.
“The number one thing was the funding — more funding for schools,” said Gaiber. “Number two was salary, which was interesting. They see funding and their ability to be effective as more important than their own money in their pocket.”
